49 persons hospitalized after consuming 'poisonous food' in Budgam | KNO

Budgam, Apr 01 (KNO): At least 49 persons, mostly children, were hospitalized after they consumed 'poisonous food' at Zagipora Chararisharief area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that 49 persons from village Ziagipora Chrowni block of Charisharief were received at SDH with alleged history of food poisoning (consumption of yellow rice, Tahri). Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam, Tajamul Khan said that they have so far received more than 49 people from the village at Sub District hospital Chararisharief and among them nine were shifted to SMHS and 15 to GB Pant hospital for treatment. He said that all patients are stable and besides a few ambulances have been sent to the village and all the staff has been on alert to handle the situation. However, Medical Superintendents of both Srinagar hospitals confirmed that they have received patients from the village and all are stable. Meanwhile, Director Health Services Kashmir has reached the Sub District hospital to review the situation. An official said that further investigation has been started—(KNO)
